In corner one…Thea- home cook extraordinaire.
Oops…sorry wrong pic…
In corner two…4o year-old Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon recipe.
Prepping, searing, browning, braising, & baking. Each competitor brought their best honed skills. Mom didn’t miss a beat. Seven ladies reading the recipes, verifying step by step. The pressure was on.
Beef was browned, stock and wine were added. The whole pot was put into an oven for 2.5 hours. Mushrooms were browned, pearl onions were sauteed and braised. The meat was removed and the liquid was cooked down for a sauce.
It was a fierce battle, but Mom pushed onward. Potatoes were boiled, then butter and parsley were added. Baby green peas were cooked with more butter added. And the final result….
Mom kicked butt, took names and served up a fantastic Sunday Smack Down Dinner!!
And of course for dessert we had to have Julia’s favorite birthday cake-Reine De Saba (Queen of Sheba). Get recipe here.
