Calumet Fisheries

Remember this scene from The Blues Brothers in 1979??? At the base of that bridge is Calumet Fisheries dating all the way back to 1946. It is a family owned business that won a James Beard Award last year. (Which is the equivalent of an Oscar, but for food).  What makes it so special?  The smoked fish- done in house the old fashion way.  Anthony Bourdain ran a segment of it on his show “No Reservations.”  No seats, no bathrooms, only take-out.  It’s a 25 minute jaunt from Chicago on the Southeast side- worth the trip!
